My Story is Art – Watercolor Flowers for Ivy & Aster

When Jessica from Ivy & Aster came to me with the idea of developing a pattern for their Spring 2016 line, I was floored.  Over the years I’ve had the honor of collaborating on some amazingly cool projects, but I never tire of something new on the horizon.

We went to work envisioning Watercolor Flowers for Ivy & Aster.  The finished pattern was derived from our existing collection of patterns but while staying focused on a very specific color palette.

{Youthful, ethereal, modern and fresh were some of the adjective at the top of my mind when perfecting these watercolor flowers.}

A whispery palette of blush, sheer amber, golden tones and the palest aqua made their debut together for this custom textile.  The soft black, pen outline remained and hints of the painting’s original watercolor paper texture lingered.

After discovering the talents of the Ivy and Aster teams years ago at Bridal Market in NYC, I’ve been a huge fan ever since.  With a distinct eye for the modern bride, their silhouettes whether classic or a bit Avant Garde, always lend a joyful, youthful appearance.

My favorite piece from the collection is the Bomber Jacket below…seriously.

{The crop top, billowing skirt and throwback jacket silhouette mingle expertly to imagine something entirely new.}

We’re in love and honored to have played a part.
