My Story is Art – A Glitzy and Glam Party for The Momental Girls Part I

You may not know but “Momental” is a real word.  Over the years so many have asked how I came up with the name; if I had made it up and so on… The word Momental often confused with Monumental speaks of precious time, memories that are fleeting and pass by in a flash.  They are precious and full of meaning.

How befitting that this team of women I work with every day get it.  They understand that life is worth celebrating; that we are here to uplift each other and relish in the precious and profound each moment holds.

I can honestly say that every day we laugh and celebrate, even in the tiniest ways.  Once a year however, we come together, dress up and party for one luscious evening to commemorate all the good work done the months before.  The Momental Girls find ways each day to stop time for our couples, with every meticulous brushstroke or impromptu call on the phone.  For one evening I wanted to stop time for these girls, who I love and respect so much.

It all began with a place.  POSH at The Scranton Club in Scranton, Pennsylvania has recently been brought back to gorgeous life by talented partners, Joshua Mast and Paul Blackledge.  With both hailing from a background in fashion it is no surprise this space is delectably dripping with the savviest of details.  The Fashion Lounge was our home for a night and we loved every minute.

The evening was about color, glitz and discovery.  All surfaces dripped with saturated hues of fuchsia, electric blue, purple, green and gold.  Every glance revealed the tiniest of moments from bead work tucked secretly into a centerpiece sculpture of gilded frames to tiny stained glass boxes at each place setting holding a sweet surprise.

Weeks before the evening each girl received a custom invitation.  Hand painted silk folios with a bold frame painting seemed to pop off the page.  I couldn’t resist making one for myself!  Shades of regal purple and cobalt blue shimmer inks were pained against Envelopments Oz cardstock.  A combination I will be sure to use again.

The floral detailing was more sculpture and innovative construction than traditional arrangement.  Some elements dried and sprayed with gold spoke of the crispness of winter  while others were alive with fresh chartreuse and fuchsia color.

I have to be honest, we could have sat down to dinner anywhere in the world and looked this happy.  That is the magic of this team BUT I feel we all deserve glamorous moments like these.  I urge you to create small celebrations, toast to nothing and all the possibility.  Tell jokes at a dinner table with friends until you belly laugh and take photos of it all.  Cheers!

Another of my favorite shots from the evening, Mom and I.  Love you, XO.

So as you might imagine there is so much more to share so of course I will be back tomorrow with Part II.  More on the hand paintedstationery, the over the top dessert and the super secret entertainment!  In the meantime, head over to Hostess with the Mostess to see more from our celebration!
