Join us to celebrate little Irie’s first birthday!
In the midst of Covid, Kristy put together an intimate gathering to celebrate her daughter’s special milestone. She created portraits of some of history’s most important women, to celebrate their inspiring work alongside Irie’s big day. Guests were gifted boxed invitations including a custom printed tea towel featuring Kristy’s strawberry sketches, plus details on Covid safety.
The “Pillars” of History portraits became of the big design motifs of the day, along with fuchsia watercolor, a pattern of the women’s calligraphed names, and painted strawberries.
Covid was a consideration for Irie’s party and the logistics. The guest list was small, and to fill extra seats Kristy took inspiration from a sporting arena filling some seats with life size cutouts of guests – she used her portraits again at life-size. What initially was a cheeky way to fill spots and keep the event space feeling full also became an entertainment detail for this event, and a great way to further include the history motif.
Paper details on the day included a fun seating chart with miniature houses to mark each family’s table, plus cute faux-strawberry place cards, oval table numbers, and custom-cut phoenix menus. Pops of bright fuchsia and red contrast with the black and white background space. Decorated cookies were a personal-sized dessert in place of cutting a cake.
The black and white ink portraits were a perfect tie-in with the super-cool venue architecture! A high vaulted ceiling created a start black accent in an otherwise simple white space.
Irie’s micro-party was featured on Style Me Pretty too!
