A Peek into the Studio – Custom Floral Wedding Stationery for Claire Pettibone

If I were a gown designer, I would want to be Claire Pettibone.  She speaks a language of art and love all wrapped up in divine fabric and detail that resonates with the whimsical artist in all of us.  Even if you might never wear a Pettibone frock, you can’t help but get pulled in to her magical world.

So when we had the chance to vision in paint and pretty for Claire’s runway show last fall you can imagine…just imagine…  We started with a few swatches of fabrics and a muted color palette.  I then developed a floral pattern of garden roses, cherry blossoms, olive branches and camellias…

Programs and keepsake bookmarks were letterpressed and then accented with gold foil…watercolor and milky inks were applied to each and every  – thousands and thousands of brushstrokes later…

Loved floating white into sheer and bright watercolor here…Notice those gold foil flower centers….ah love those details!

From Claire on our collaboration:
“Growing up with artist parents, and surrounded my whole life with paint, turpentine and the creative process, I feel such a kindred spirit in Kristy. My medium is silk, lace and embroideries, while hers are watercolors, papers and gold leaf. It was so exciting to collaborate on this project, and see how Kristy interpreted my direction and inspiration to the page. The fact that each piece was individually hand painted blew me away!

And of course custom iPhone gifts for all the show attendees…

The team spent a week painting away…

So grateful for this experience.  XO
