Behind the Scenes – Watercolor Welcome Bag in Destination Weddings and Honeymoons Magazine

Earlier this year I contributed to the Aisle File Editorial of Destination Weddings and Honeymoons Magazine.  The story was simple; how to build the best Wedding Welcome Bag possible?  As a stationer, we see things from a different angle and had a blast curating items for the ultimate Wedding Welcome Bag!!

We began with the artwork of course and this beauty below was well underway after my Costa Rica trip in January, so I put the finishing touches on the painting and went right to work creating the itinerary booklet with this new pattern as it’s focus.

Next, the container.  We built a watercolor box in shades of green with a woven handle, all easily collapsed for smooth travels home.  Adding the goods was easy.  While in Costa Rica we met Adrienne, the spunky owner of Cafe Milagro and learned all about her coffee movement within Costa Rica.  Next we added dark chocolate covered cashews from the local favorite Britt® Chocolates.  A Moleskine® journal and colored pencils for the artistic in all of us and custom Pura Vida Bangles from Paloma’s Nest were among my favorite picks.

Finally a chic pair of binoculars and a custom Costa Rica mix from our friends at Scratch Weddings and the Welcome Bag was complete!

Guests can leave the bulkier booklet behind and pop the single page watercolor timeline in their pocket to stay on schedule!

Love the pencil-sketched canvas backdrop…

We created a sketched version of the Scratch Weddings logo to soften the look a bit.  How your Welcome Bags looks can have just as much impact as what’s inside!  Pick up a copy of the mag to read more of my expert tips for creating Welcome Bags your guests will covet!

So how about these incredible shots?  I enlisted the help of talented photographer friend Jillian McGrath.  Big hugs to Susan and Team at Destination Weddings and Honeymoons.  We love working with you!
