The story of this project started three years ago…which seems to me like forever ago. I decided to orchestrate my very first inspiration shoot. A carefully chosen team and venue later, we were in full swing carefully crafting the artful table you may have seen on the What Junebug Loves blog yesterday. There are a few reasons why I’ve waited this long to share the shoot, the only important one being I wanted this project to have a perfect home. It finally does.
Three years ago, art and watercolor textures were just beginning to become wedding decor detail. In 2009, my hand painted designs were just coming into their own. This shoot, even though executed what seems like a lifetime ago, still resonates today. Oddly enough it speaks to some of the trends we’re seeing take shape as we speak…
Blackberries and red raspberries were the stationery focal point and sweet watercolor sketches of the like made appearances throughout…This shot is singing with touches of color and intense contrast…
Masters paintings from the likes of Vermeer and de Heem were at the top of my mind when designing this tablescape… mounds of richly colored grapes and curious greens carpet the table with texture and color.
Amidst the watecolor berries were the painted dots…
A simple cake wrapped with watercolor paper – all painted pretty perched atop a fraction of my art book collection…
Moss makes the look…with palettes tucked in as table runner.
The hand built bright turquoise candlesticks certainly help…
A bouquet wrapped with lamb’s ear…
Eclectic greens, pods and this n’ that…
I’m proud to have worked with this team 3 years ago and proud to still call them creative friends today. Thanks for reading a bit about the little shoot’s journey and hope you found some inspiration along the way! XO
