Happy to report we are up and running here at the Momental Studio, aka, the power is back! I spent part of my morning watching national news of the devastation in parts of New Jersey, Vermont and beyond. I cannot help but feel lucky as so many are suffering so much. Our small blip in electricity seems miniscule. Just the same, thank you to everyone for being so kind and patient for the past few days!
As promised I am thrilled to share a special project with you. One that, when I look at each image I am transported to a magical place with warm sand and salty air. A place where daylight dinner party turns a small group into instant friends who chat into the wee hours. Cortnie from Canvas and Canopy Events messaged me privately on twitter months ago after seeing this invitation design. She asked if I wanted to get involved with a project. No details were shared at the time but Cortnie and I have a common artful affinity for visual details so I did not hesitate in saying YES!
Soon I learned that the shoot was intended for Rue Magazine and before I knew it, I was diving into creating painted paper pieces on authentic papyrus! Cortnie and the Rue team had their hands full finding Caleb the camel, but I am so thrilled they did. Isn’t he just gorgeous?
Cortnie traveled to Jordan earlier this year and returned with loads of inspiration from her trips to spice markets, archaeological sites and beyond. Here is a bit of the inspiration I was sent to inspire the stationery design.
A peek at the pieces I created using a new hand drawn pattern of triangles and swirls…
Check back later this week for more on the table design, lounge in the sand and more Caleb of course!
