Making art is about taking a journey. This shoot, has had quite the journey over the last two years and to that end…yes, making art requires unrelenting patience. Two years ago we traveled to Southern Utah, with two of the most inspiring photographers I’ve had the pleasure to know. With a common vision and shared passion we embarked on a journey to express all the creative energy bubbling up inside of us. Sepia had long been an inspirational concept for me artistically and I wanted to somehow translate it into a tangible moment.
All began with this Pinterest board, where I gathered my thoughts….
Rose gold foil for the wedding invitations was the driving force behind the look.
I love how it glistens….ahh!
Southern Utah light is magical…I’ve never been to Venice, but I can’t imagine anything better.
I created 4 distinct suites featuring a illustrative style floral pattern. Very detailed, very botanical, very delicate. Each was hand painted with the softest touches of blush watercolor.
Copper, blush and cream stock mingle with rose gold foil and watercolor… bliss.
Celebration under the open sky to follow…amen!
I developed an abstract pattern for the table linen…By Bloomers always blows my mind with their eye.
Oh the Watters Gowns….miles and miles of frothy blush texture….
A floral belt…this was an impromptu idea and built on location in about 10 minutes…That PEONY!!!
Hand Painting the model…yup, impromptu as well…but so good. Who needs jewelry?
Palm sized programs with close-up vies of the botanical pattern. Touches of white ink were mingled with the blush and coral watercolor. Stunning. Couple’s names were handwritten on each – adore this simple touch.
I wanted to stay away from traditional adornment…no necklaces, earrings, etc… Enter this vision of Edwardian grace…the floral collar.
This artwork has my heart…forever.
