Nothing gets me more excited about painting than peonies. Their lush petals and bulbous shape seem made in heaven for an artist’s brush. When Michael gave us design direction for her save the date to include WOW factor, peonies, gold and pink plus an Old Hollywood vibe, I knew instantly what to create. I’ve always dreamed of painting ribbons. My time had come. Michael’s design began with a Venetian Mirror illustration. A broad tipped pen elicited a stylized sketch of a classic frame style with etched leaves and texture. Our signature sketched peonies were tucked into the bottom corners of the frame.
Super wide satin ribbon was meticulously painted with creamy pink, sage green and gold inks. Then we were on to painting dots, dots and more dots; over 11,000 to be exact.
Michael and Kris planned an engagement shoot reminiscent of classic Hollywood films. Have a look at the original sample and inspiration board that started it all.
