Behind the Scenes – Chic Winter Elegant Wedding Invitations in Magnolia Rouge Magazine

There is just something about a light filled space that captures our hearts…I’ve said it before, I am a color lover and when presented with a chance to fill up my brush with juicy red ink or creamy white, you can guess where my comfort zone gravitates to.  Alicia, a past Momental Bride helped me fall in love with white, and this shoot produced by the charming Sarah Chancey, deepened my appreciation for all the lovely that neutral palettes inspire us with.

For this inspiration shoot, recently featured in the Fall/Winter 2013 issue of Magnolia Rouge Magazine, we developed a painterly suite of textural greens, white Garden Roses and the perpetually delicate Lily of the Valley.  Honestly, while developing this artwork I felt truly filled with the creative spirit.  The graceful shapes and entwined greens just poured out of the paintbrush….there were no paint-overs or re-dos with this project; every time my brush hit paper it just felt right.

Momental_Designs1298Shades of soft gold, champagne, shimmery ivory and white composed the paper palette here.  First we painted in sheer tones of watercolor to establish the shape of each wreath.  Then creamy, dimensional inks were added in plenty over top to build a textural harmony of graceful swooshes, dots and flower petal inspired swirls.

Momental_Designs1318This shot I stole just as the paint was drying… you can see it glistening.  This painting technique elicits the same experience one might have with a letterpress or engraved printing technique.  Run your fingers across the surface and you immediately delight in the hand painted moment.

Momental_Designs1304Amo questo momento….love this moment.  The mix of sheer watercolor and creamy inks is so obvious here and I LOVE it!  A crisp matte cardstock frame seems the perfect finish.

Momental_Designs1309This might quite possibly be my favorite table number I’ve ever created.  The digits are entirely painted of plant and floral elements.  Layers and layers of green and white brushstrokes…ah heavenly.

So grateful to have been a part of this project and again encouraged to see white and nuetrals in all their glory!!
